Elder Wing Closure
From Monday 16 August 2010 the Gallery's heritage Elder Wing of Australian art will
be closed to visitors for the installation of a new state-of-the-art, energy efficient
lighting system; part of the State Government funded Greening of the Gallery initiative. The rest
of the Gallery will remain open throughout this major works program, and visitors can continue to
enjoy the European, Asian, Indigenous and contemporary displays, as well as our special
exhibitions, Restaurant and Bookshop.

including many of the Gallery's most popular paintings, will be redisplayed in gallery 6.
The Greening of the Gallery project is expected to be completed in early 2011 at which time,
visitors will be able to view some of the most popular works in the Gallery's collection in a new
light - under near-perfect lighting conditions and to best advantage.
