French Language Sessions

A wonderful opportunity for secondary students to engage in French during our learning program in connection with the exhibition Rupert Bunny: Artist in Paris. This program provides students with opportunities to: learn about Bunny; engage with the visual arts providing cross-curriculum perspectives; engage in essential learnings of identity, interdependence, communication, thinking and futures; and build literacy skills and cultural awareness.

Session times: 10.00am and 11.15am
Dates (years 8-10): Tuesday and Thursday (45-60 minute duration) until 1 October
Dates (years 11-12): Wednesday and Friday (60 minute duration) until 1 October
Cost: $50 per session or free for country, DECS, AISSA, CESA equity listed schools
Max: 20 per session

 

SALA Secondary Drawing Exhibition

Education Services proudly presents the fourth Secondary Drawing Exhibition. Works of art on display are a result of Art Gallery workshop experiences by secondary students in life drawing, self portraiture, figurative abstraction and figurative drawing. Education Services learning programs provide young people with the opportunity to think creatively and flexibly, express ideas and feelings in individual ways, take risks, develop visual art skills and celebrate diversity.

Over 120 students, teachers, family and friends gathered for the opening on 4 August. The Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ADFAS) SA branch presented sponsored awards on the night.

Art Language Tours

Language tours for secondary students are available. Our specialised Guides (fluent in French, German, Spanish and Indonesian) will lead students through the Art Gallery in their target language, using art expressions and introducing works of art significant to that country and culture. Tours may also include a general viewing of the permanent collection in their target language.

Unpacking Agsa

Meet AGSA, our interactive blue creature, whose inquisitive nature will take students on an adventure through the Art Gallery of South Australia. 

This online art game supports students to investigate and experiment with art elements such as: colour, shape, form, symmetry, perspective, line, texture, proportion and contrast.

Unpacking Art

The Unpacking Art site offers several approaches which can be used in a classroom, art room or art gallery setting.  This is an enquiry-based site which makes links to works of art in the Art Gallery of South Australia’s permanent collection.
